Watch out for Scammers!! Model Talent Network 2006/12/01 21:26 Karma: 47
I had the privilege of being called in for an appointment with a person named Brad. But making a long story short, I didn't end up meeting this man because when I entered the location in NYC on 35th street and sat down to fill out the information sheet a guy walked in and we started talking about the company.

The guy who walked in had been there the previous day and said he was charged a few hundred dollars for them to take a few headshots of him with a cheap camera. As I sat there and listened to this guys story, I told him he should never pay for anything and if he wanted to get professional photos done then he should research photographers and not go through a place like this. Long story short, I ended up leaving before he came out of the office from speaking with Brad so I don't know if he got his money back, hopefully he did.

However, I will draw your attention to the fine print on the information sheet that they ask you to provide a signature at the end of the document.

One of the sentances state "We do not get modeling and acting jobs"... "Model Talent Network Development Corp" ..."does not hire models"

So when I read this and underlined this and spoke to the guy who had just been scammed, I said to myself, if I have headshots already and a comp card, what the hell do I need these people for if they are not going to find me a job? And the answer to my question was basically to leave the location!

So be warned, this is a scam!! Don't pay for anything upfront!! Btw, I went to this place in Manhattan on Nov. 29th 2006

The address is 224 W 35th Street, between 7th and 8th. Both people there are morons and I urge you to never go there. They're a scam and I, sadly, fell for it. Luckily I didn't lose much, but I called the news about this scam. Perhaps they'll do something about it.

I'm replying to this thread even though it's very old to let everyone know that these people are still scamming unwitting young actors through Craigslist. I replied to a posting, and I had basically the same experience that Tomas described. And I wasn't the only one; everyone who went through Brad's door was told to get their photos taken, and nearly every single person fell for it. It was against my instincts to listen to him, but I did, and I'm so angry at myself. The only thing I'm glad about is that I refused to pay the original price, so my loss isn't as great as everyone else who passed through. I'm planning to go to the NYPD today to report the scam, because I plan to contest the charges on my card.

So BEWARE! If someone contacts you from Model Talent, DO NOT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT!

Hah I was there today..was interested in doing some extra work and was hurried into taking headshots. Didn't feel comfortable with them at all so I said I would be back tomorrow. His enthusiasm left him as I said this. Pretty sketchy place, thought it was a nice location 1 bock from Penn Station but yea total scammers. Just glad I had read enough into these kinds of things to have red flags go off when I was told about their in house photographer. They didn't get anything out of me money wise, but i was the least bit upset to realize i was about 40$ down at the end of the day in commuting fares and a parking ticket on my car. Just letting people know they're still out there. 224 West 35th only I think they changed their name so now they're Network Model and Talent Agency. GL to everyone out there and avoid these guys.

Is this the one in Suite #308? I went there twice (and of course they always keep the contact list and call back month(s) later to see if you're interested...) Yup total scam. I talked to someone the same day that they ripped off- he said he tried to bargain for a lower price, and eventually did, ended up paying $100 on his credit card, then the agency man (Brad?)literally took him outside the back door (natural scenery? psht) and starting snapping photos with a digi cam. Then he couldn't even get anything (no CD OR photos)! Brad (I'm guessing this is the same man..) told him he had to pay more to get the photos developed, and to come back next week.
